Tronchetto tal-Milied (Maltese Christmas Log)
A no-bake Maltese Christmas log made with crushed biscuits, nuts, chocolate, condensed milk, and candied fruit.
Ingredients
- 300g plain biscuits, crushed
- 150g mixed nuts, chopped
- 100g dark chocolate, melted
- 200g sweetened condensed milk
- 80g glacé cherries, chopped
- 60g candied peel
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp brandy, rum, or orange juice
- Zest of 1 orange
- Icing sugar or melted chocolate, to finish
Instructions
- Mix the dry ingredients: Combine the crushed biscuits, chopped nuts, cherries, candied peel, cocoa powder, and orange zest in a large bowl.
- Bind: Stir in the melted chocolate, condensed milk, and brandy, rum, or orange juice. Mix until the ingredients hold together.
- Shape: Spoon the mixture onto baking paper and shape into a log. Roll tightly and twist the ends to compact it.
- Chill: Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, until firm.
- Finish: Dust with icing sugar or cover with melted chocolate before slicing.
